Music Educator, Clinician, and Adjudicator
Stephanie Threlkeld is originally from Pennsylvania. Upon moving to Aiken, SC, she attended Schofield Middle School. A graduate of Aiken High School, she went on to complete a Bachelor of Music Education at Newberry College. While there, she was inducted into the Bachman Honors Society, was recognized in “Who’s Who Among College Students,” and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She studied flute with Dr. John Wagoner.
Upon graduation, Mrs. Threlkeld returned to Aiken to teach at Schofield Middle School and assist the Aiken High School Band. In her fifteen years at Schofield, her Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, and Percussion Ensembles received numerous Superior ratings and special recognition at competitions on the local, state, and national level. Mrs. Threlkeld then served for one year as music teacher and band director at Mead Hall Episcopal School. During these years, she served as a teacher for middle school medically homebound students as well as music classes at acGATEWAY, a summer program for the artistically gifted and talented. She currently teaches music appreciation to homeschool students through Grace Presbyterian Co-op, a private lesson instructor for the AAA Homeschool Band, and part-time assistant director Aiken High School Band.
Mrs. Threlkeld is member of the South Carolina Band Directors Association. After serving as the Solo and Ensemble Aiken Site Chair for eight years, she was selected to serve on the SCBDA Executive Board as the Solo and Ensemble Chairman. She served in this position for four years and continues to adjudicate for the event. She provides her expertise to Aiken County band program in a variety of ways, including mouthpiece testing and guest clinician. Mrs. Threlkeld has been selected as a conductor at various band clinics and retreats.
Mrs. Threlkeld performs on flute and piccolo as requested for her church and the Aiken Civic Orchestra.
Mrs. Threlkeld resides with her husband, Connor, and son, Elliott in Graniteville, SC. along with their two cats and a leopard gecko.
